Take the Camboussel trail , about 1 hour there and back, and enjoy a beautiful walk along the Agout, with occasional chances to reach the middle of the river thanks to the many rocks present.

Gijou valley

Take the Chemin de Pierres au fil du Gijou trail, an out-and-back walk lasting from 20 min to 2h. Listed as a Natura 2000 area, the Gijou river and its sagne, with remarkable local biodiversity beside the Maison de la Vallée du Gijou, mark the starting point of the old stone path towards the medieval hamlet of Sénégats, before following the river. Take the Trésors de la Nature trail , with a small 25-minute loop around the lake and a larger 1h45 loop from the Tourist Office. Take the Canroute trail (1h15), starting from Lassouts. The Canroute peat bog is the largest in the Tarn. It is also listed as a Natura 2000 area and is managed through grazing with a herd of

Take the Sainte Juliane trail (about 25 min there and back) to this moving and mystical archaeological site, where many traces of the area’s turbulent past can be found, from the Celts to the 15th century. St Jean del Frech and Camalières

On the St Jean del Frech trail (about 5h), you will pass the site of this 10th-century church. It was originally a watchtower from the Carolingian period, before becoming a church for the faithful. During the crusades against the Albigensians, its cemetery sheltered Cathar graves. This site is also notable for having hosted “Desert” assemblies during the Wars of Religion.
On the road, before or after your hike, we recommend a small detour through the mysterious “forgotten” hamlet of Camalières. (hiking sheet and GPX tracks to download)

Château de Montfa

Château de Montfa

Access via the château car park or the Puechs trail (about 4h). Since the 13th century, it has been the stronghold of the paternal branch of the famous painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec-Montfa, to give his full name. The château, now privately owned, is being restored by the château association. The inside can also be visited during the association’s events. (hiking sheet and GPX tracks to download)
