Tour of the Missègle workshop – duration 1 hour (or 2 hours if there are more than 25 people)
Discover one of the last remaining knitting workshops in France, specialising in natural fibres
(awarded the ‘Origine France Garantie’ and ‘Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant’ labels).
You’ll have the privilege of watching the skilled craftswomen at work to learn a little more about
their craft, the secrets of knitting, such as the different stages involved in making a
sock or re-knitting a collar.
Lunch:
A meal featuring the traditional dish of our mountains, ‘le Frésinat’, at the
Restaurant du Vieux Brassac (set menu: starter + main course + dessert + coffee).
(Other menus are also available – quote on request)
Visit to the ‘Granite and People’ museum area – duration 30 mins (or 1 hour for groups of more than 30 people)
Accompanied by a guide, visit the museum area at the Maison du Sidobre, dedicated to our most enduring ambassador: granite. Relive the history and evolution of the stonemason’s trade over the centuries. Discover the expertise of the people of Sidobre, and their architectural, funerary and artistic creations… which have earned a worldwide reputation.
Additional option lasting approximately 30 minutes:
the geology of the Sidobre and menhir statues on the ‘Path of the Immortals’ – €2.50 per person
video: ‘The World of Granite’ – €1 per person extra
