Our 100% nature week in Sidobre & Valleys in the Tarn 7 days of family nature activities in the Tarn, with walks, adventures and discoveries in the heart of the Sidobre

First stop of our day at the Maison du Sidobre. We discover there are more than 800 km of trails 😳. So we choose only places with short family loops.

• Sentier des Immortels: accessible, shaded, with a river nearby. The children climb on the rocks and look for the statue-menhirs. We learn that the area has a concentration unique in Europe.
• Sentier des Légendes, the short loop: a mysterious atmosphere, perfect for stimulating the imagination. Tip: take the GPS coordinates of the car parks from the hiking sheets.
• Stop at Lake Merle: the rocks seem to float! 
• Stop at the mythical Peyro Clabado, with a steep climb and a short loop recommended with children.
  Discovery of the Musée Jean Cros: colourful minerals, free admission, lovely craft shop.
  Picnic break Spanish-style at the Beyriès area, recommended by the Tourist Office.
• Then we continue with the Sentier des Merveilles: we were supposed to do the big loop… in the end, we chose the short one! But we did not forget the souvenir photo at the Roc de l’Oie.
• Gourmet snack in Lacrouzette at the small tea room in the village bakery, where you can taste the region’s different pastries. #LikeALocal
• Then a little sporty moment at the beautiful Saut de la Truite waterfall. Be warned, you have to earn it :-)

End of the day in Burlats: visit to the Pavillon Adélaïde and the Cascade du Paradis trail where we were able to dip our feet.
Evening at the village festival in Vabre: torchlit walk and free fireworks. Local atmosphere just as we like it, with a meal at the bodegas.

• Morning walk on the Sentier de l’Enfant Sauvage: shaded, fun and perfect in hot weather.
  Smart picnic for lunch: local charcuterie bought at Millas in the centre of Lacaune-les-Bains, and bread from Labinal in a small street near the town hall, for the house speciality, La Pipelette.
• Early afternoon visit to Salaisons Oberti, which has a real museum, then the museum of old Lacaune, more like a presentation of an old traditional house but very fun. Both visits were paid, but with a reduced rate if you collect the heritage passport at the Tourist Office.
• Late afternoon, we return to St Pierre de Trivisy via the scenic road of the Gijou valley towards Gijounet and the small village of Lacaze: a TOP choice for the 2 youngest, with a visit to the château and a little knight costume lent free of charge for children. Admission is €3 for adults.
• Starry evening with Planète Tarn in St Pierre de Trivisy: a walk under the stars, €6. Activity to book.

• Sentier des Bergers in the morning, with a little giant game of Goose at the start and a superb viewpoint at the end.
• Then a more cultural visit with the Museum of Protestantism, from the Reformation to Secularism, and Tarn printing.
• At lunch, we had our picnic on the small trail beside the Maison du Sidobre; we had spotted a more secluded table on the path during our first visit.
• Short digestive walk on the river of rocks trail at the Chaos de la Resse, where the children dipped their feet again.
• At 3pm, we had booked a first appointment for the “World of Granite” visit at the Maison du Sidobre, to see France’s largest granite quarry and a processing workshop, with a reduced rate thanks to the heritage tickets. On the way back, some even had a little nap on the granite loungers.
• In the evening, local dinner at O Crémaussel, with booking recommended for the cheese soup and frésinat, before our second appointment at 9pm.
• The “Frissons Roches” storytelling walk with Bérangère, a narrated walk at nightfall. Luckily, the storyteller lent us little lamps. THANK YOU!
