Heta Exhibits – Volumes and Spaces

Heta Exhibits – Volumes and Spaces

Lacaze From 17/08 to 23/08

Heta, who trained as an interior designer, has always been interested in volumes and space. He builds worlds out of cardboard … both literally and figuratively. Through his three-dimensional works, he explores our perception of reality and time.

In these three-dimensional landscapes, we discover tiny figures lost in the midst of a world that seems far too big for them. This play on scale creates a somewhat absurd poetry, where the fragility of the cardboard echoes that of existence itself.
Even when these little creatures seem overwhelmed by the immensity, a strange lightness hangs in the air. A subtle humour, almost hidden within the folds of the cardboard, brings a touch of lightness to serious matters. Heta’s works are reminiscent of pop-up books, as the meticulous cut-outs suggest depth and movement. The sense of lightness, set against the gravity of the external reality faced by the characters, leads us to the subject of humour in art.
Art and humour have this in common: they both love to break the mould, awaken dormant ideas and shed light on new insights.
Heta’s works resemble shifting landscapes, inhabited deserts, silent three-dimensional scenes. Every fold, every cut-out tells a story of movement, balance, vertigo… and it’s a hit!
