São Paulo, 1980s… Noboru must prepare a school presentation about his Japanese heritage, which he has always tried to hide. He turns to his grumpy grandfather, Hideo, to learn more about his family and how he arrived in Brazil in 1920 as a young man. Although Hideo has always avoided talking about his past and the pain of leaving his homeland, he eventually agrees, encouraged by his loving wife, to share his story with Noboru. As the young boy discovers his ancestors’ journey into exile, he begins to embrace this culture from the other side of the world and even uncovers the existence of an unknown uncle…
