Didier Cros was born in the Tarn in 1954, surrounded by trees, near rivers teeming with trout, beneath skies where the clouds were often swept this way and that by the Autan wind. After studying Fine Art in Aix-en-Provence, he moved to Paris and, from the early 1980s, embarked on a long journey of free, demanding and insatiable creativity.
He stubbornly and relentlessly questions his work, constantly drawing fresh inspiration from the sources of life, lived experience and deeply felt connections, in order to engage with space and colour beyond the human form. The nude, the tree, the animal, the landscape and the portrait are all challenges he takes up with the exhilarating anxiety of one who loves and dares, one who moves from charcoal to oil, from the monotype press to terracotta. Didier Cros never ceases to paint, draw and sculpt.
